Competition 1
Unison or 2 part Primary Choirs

1. Competitors in this competition must be attending Primary School.
2. No competitor may enter more than once in this competition.
3. All choirs must perform ONE piece only which must not exceed 5 minutes. The adjudicator will time all competitors and any performance exceeding 5 minutes will be disqualified from prize winning.
4. Competitors are asked to provide their own accompanist. If a festival accompanist is required an additional charge of €20 will be applied for each competition and a complete copy of the piano part must be sent to Interschools Music Festival, Wesley College, Ballinteer, Dublin 16 to finalise the booking process. Festival accompanists cannot rehearse in advance with competitors. Tapes or CDs may NOT be used as a means of accompaniment.

4. There is a maximum number of 16 singers per ensemble in this competition.
5. All choirs must perform ONE piece only which must not exceed 5 minutes. The adjudicator will time all competitors and any performance exceeding 5 minutes will be disqualified from prize winning.
6. Competitors are asked to provide their own accompanist. Competition 54
Rock Bands O15

1.  All competitors must be attending Secondary School, but not necessarily taking music lessons in school.
2. The cut-off date for this competition is 1st March.  Performers should be 15 years or over on this date.
3. There is a maximum number of six players within any band (and a minimum number of two).
4. Each group must play ONE piece which must not exceed 5 minutes.  The adjudicator will time all competitors and any performance exceeding 5 minutes will be disqualified from prize winning.
5. Competitors in Rock Bands need not be members of the same school.
6. A performer may participate in only ONE Rock band within the competition.
7. A copy of the music should be provided where possible for the adjudicator (to be brought along on the day). Competitors' attention is drawn to the Laws on Copyright which prohibit the unauthorised photocopying of music. The Interschools Music Festival assumes that anybody using photocopies has the permission of the publisher to do so.
8. All equipment (amps, mics, stands & drum kit) will be supplied for the Rock Bands. As a result it is very important to send in the Rock Band requirement form giving details of what equipment you may need. This form is available on this website under Downloads.

Competition 55
Traditional Group 
1. All competitors must be attending Secondary School, but not necessarily taking music lessons in school.
2. There is a maximum number of twelve players within any group.
3. Each group must perform a selection of tunes with various tempos that must not exceed 5 minutes.  The adjudicator will time all competitors and any performance exceeding 5 minutes will be disqualified from prize winning.
4. Competitors in Traditional Group need not be members of the same school.
5. Drum kit is not permitted in a traditional group.                                                                                                                                                     

6. All members of Traditional groups must be students. The group may not be accompanied by a teacher. 
7. In Traditional group competition, a performer may participate in ONE group only.

Competition 56
Own Performed Song-O15

1. All competitors must be attending Secondary School, but not necessarily taking music lessons in school.
2. The cut-off date for this competition is 1st March.  Performers should be 15 years or over on this date.
3. Each entered song must include words and music, and both must be an original composition.
4. Each performer must sing ONE piece which must not exceed 5 minutes. The adjudicator will time all competitors and any performance exceeding 5 minutes will be disqualified from prize winning.
5. The songwriter may have ONE other student performing with them, if they wish.
6. A copy of the music should be provided for the adjudicator, however if this is not possible a copy of the words will be acceptable.
7. Tapes, CDs or backing tracks may NOT be used as a means of accompaniment.
